1941 Unbalanced Fortunes

When Sula died in the novel, it felt like a huge burden was lifted off of the people in Medallion at first. I mean everybody was celebrating, building things for the better of the community, Even Eva got her hopes up to go to a desegregated nursing home. But when that frost came it killed a lot of things. Not only vegetables and livestock, but inspiring dreams to do better as well. Not long after that everybody as well as everything started to fall apart physically and emotionally. In nineteen-forty when Nel said nobody would ever love her because of all of the hateful, spiteful things she done in her life to people I felt like that statement was wrong. Even when Sula is six-feet deep into the ground there is still hatred in the townspeople hearts. What is really expressed in this chapter is that they needed her for bonding. Women needed her for the better of their relationship, Teapot needed her for the sake of himself and his abusive mother. Sometimes in life there needs to be a certain evil. A certain evil that puts fear inside our hearts that would bring us closer and make us afraid to lose each other. Sula was that evil.
